Health promotion for people with developmental disabilities
PITCH - Partners in the Community's Health is a collaborative project. Our members are people with disabilities, their families, and service providers who are partnering with United Cerebral Palsy of Central Pennsylvania and the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University. Our goal is to do research about healthy lifestyles for persons with developmental disabiliteis in Perry, Cumberland, and Dauphin counties. Why have we formed this partnership?
ü People with disabilities are more likely to be overweight than people without disabilities
ü Few studies have been done with this population to address health problems
People with developmental disabilities, their families, agency support staff and any other interested people are welcome to attend this forum to share knowledge and opinions about health, nutrition and physical activity for people with developmental disabilities.
What health problems exist? For Whom? How can we motivate people to be healthier?
What is already available? What can we do about these problems?
